Jasprit Bumrah to miss first few matches of IPL 2025

Jasprit Bumrah, the ace fast bowler for Mumbai Indians (MI), is set to miss the initial matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a lower back injury sustained in January during the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney. This injury has sidelined him from competitive cricket since then, including India’s successful Champions Trophy campaign.

Bumrah has been undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. He is anticipated to join the MI squad by early April, pending medical clearance. Consequently, he is expected to miss MI’s first three matches

  • March 23: Against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai
  • March 29: Against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad
  • March 31: Against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mumbai

The MI management and the BCCI are cautious about Bumrah’s return, emphasizing a full recovery to prevent future setbacks. His absence poses a challenge for MI, requiring them to rely on their bowling depth in the season’s early stages.

Fans and analysts are hopeful for Bumrah’s swift and complete recovery, recognizing his pivotal role in both MI and the national team’s bowling lineup.
