IPL 2025: Huge Setback For MI, RR, LSG As Suspense Continue Over Fitness Of Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan

As the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) approaches, several franchises are grappling with injury concerns surrounding key players. Here’s the latest on the fitness statuses of Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Mayank Yadav, and Avesh Khan:

Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians): The ace pacer has been sidelined since January due to a lower back injury sustained during the fifth Test against Australia. His rehabilitation is ongoing under the supervision of Nitin Patel, the outgoing BCCI Sports Science chief. While there’s optimism about his recovery, Bumrah is expected to miss Mumbai Indians’ initial matches. He might join the team for their first home game on March 31 against the Kolkata Knight Riders, but an official confirmation is pending.

Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals): The Rajasthan Royals captain underwent surgery for a right index finger fracture sustained during the T20I series against England. He has cleared fitness tests for batting but awaits clearance for wicketkeeping duties. The Royals are hopeful he’ll be fully fit ahead of their opening match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23.

Mayank Yadav and Avesh Khan (Lucknow Super Giants): Lucknow Super Giants are facing challenges with their pace attack:

  • Mayank Yadav: The young pacer has been out since October 2024 due to back stress. His return date remains uncertain as he continues rehabilitation.
  • Avesh Khan: Avesh is undergoing rehab for knee cartilage issues. He has been at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) since January and is racing against time to be fit for the season’s start.

These injury concerns pose significant challenges for the respective franchises as they strategize for the upcoming IPL season.
