Samsung, the well-known electronics company, has a huge mobile phone factory in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It is located in Sector 81 and is one of the biggest mobile phone factories in the world.
When It Started
Samsung started making TVs in Noida in 1997 and began making mobile phones there in 2005. In 2017, the company decided to invest nearly ₹5,000 crore (about $750 million) to expand the factory. The goal was to double the number of mobile phones made there—from 6.8 crore (68 million) to 12 crore (120 million) every year. This goal was achieved by 2020.
Samsung also has a research and development (R&D) center in Noida. This is where engineers work on software for Samsung phones, especially those made for budget and mid-range users.
Jobs and Growth
This factory has helped create about 15,000 direct jobs and many more indirect jobs through suppliers and support services. It’s a big part of the Indian government’s “Make in India” plan, which encourages companies to build products in India instead of importing them.
Why It’s Important
The factory helps Samsung meet the growing demand for phones in India. It also exports phones to other countries like those in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. This makes India a key part of Samsung’s global business.
In Short
Samsung’s Noida factory shows how big companies can help India grow. It brings investment, jobs, and technology, and helps make India an important place for electronics manufacturing in the world.
